Towards Infinity

And as my boat sets sail

From the Heart of Darkness

Towards infinity,

I pause awhile :

A journey from the Known 

To the Unknown.

The sunlight shimmers tremulously

And I flinch.

Beauty evokes fear at times –

Darkness has been too close a friend.

A gust of wind

Tosses my vessel

And the waters tug gently.

Should I look back?

Perhaps, I could.

And yet, the light beckons.
