Dreams Built On Lies

#Lies

A streak of grey across a blue sky

Does not make it grey.

Or so I say.

Huddled amidst a million dreams

Lies  a heart that yearns

And fails again and again.

Can a  little twist

Distort what is?

 A word added here

And another subtracted,

Would barely make a difference.

Or so I tell myself.

Desires have crystallized

Into little sparkling pieces

That glitter in the dark –

Taunting me.

A few  lies here and there

Are all it took :

And yet they gnaw at

The walls of my soul,

Slowly scraping away each layer.

My pillows lie limp

And the nights cave in,

Drowning the songs of celebration.

A streak of grey across a blue sky

Does not make it grey,

I tell myself.

My laughter mocks me, yet again.

A lie can be nothing else.
