My Home Beckons

I have lived too far away,

too long, to gather words

mouthed and sung by

those before me, back home.

I fumble and silence the

words I have learnt, acquired

from an alien land

and pick up the words

that tug at the heart.

Home was never here:

It was there – amidst

the verdant green,

watered by the rain fed streams.

The pristine voices ring,

mellifluous as a rippling brook,

beckoning me home –

To my nadu,

to daivathinte svantham naadu.
