The Hand of Love

I have heard that the roar
of guns silences people
and the wrong doers mend
their ways. History claims so.
I have heard of victories, of
the right ones burying the wrong
and proclaiming new laws
for the world to grow.
And yet I have seen skulls
Kicked to a corner, graves
filled, with lifeless bodies
spilling over, taunting passers-by
of the so-called peace won.
Hidden stories emerge,
lessons too.
The heaving sobs of the ones
who lost, echo through the
vacant alleys.
Guns and missiles never put
things right. Love, a hand
extended in friendship does.
